Dr Yves Le Dréan received his PhD degree in cellular biology in 1993 from the University of  Rennes 1. Then he joined the Department of Biochemistry at the Hospital for Sick Children of Toronto (Canada) as Postdoctoral Fellow. He was recruited as Associated Professor at the University of Rennes 1 in 1997. He received “Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches” degree in 2007 and joined the Research Institute for Environmental and Occupational Health (IRSET) in 2010.
His research interests are in the field of control of genetic expression. His current research activities are mainly focused on investigations of cellular response to environmental stress. He is the coordinator of bioelectromagnetic activities at IRSET and was the principal investigator of 12 research projects focused on interactions of electromagnetic waves at cellular and molecular levels. Since 2011, he has been an expert at the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES). He significantly contributed to writing four major reports of ANSES on electromagnetic waves and human health. Dr Yves Le Dréan co-authored more than 50 scientific publications in peer-reviewed international journals. He was co-recipient of BioEM 2015 Best Paper Award.
His teaching activities cover genetics and molecular biology. Since 2014, he is in charge of the Bachelor Course in Cell Biology, Genetics, Microbiology and Animal Physiology of the University of  Rennes 1.
