IRSET provides an excellent environment to obtain advanced postdoctoral training in all fields it covers. It was founded and positively evaluated by AERES in 2011 and has been certified as a research institute by Inserm for the period of 2012-2017. Irset is a joint project of the EHESP Public School of Health in Rennes, Inserm and the University of Rennes 1 and it includes an outstation in Guadeloupe. IRSET scientists closely interact with IRISA‘s newly founded computational biology unit and the University Hospital Rennes and they have access to core platforms and services provided by Biogenouest.
Postdoctoral scientists are employed by group leaders typically on renewable one-year contracts. Postdocs are expected to conduct experimental work in the fields that their host laboratories work in. IRSET vividly encourages them to actively participate in both local and international scientific meetings and training courses. Young researchers are offered a highly competitive scientific infrastructure, agreeable living conditions and comprehensive support by permanent IRSET staff members. Outstanding postdoctoral students are encouraged to apply for research positions at France’s universities (lecturer) or Inserm and CNRS research institutes (Chargé de Recherche) that offer various support programs (Avenir/Atip/Chair d’excellence) for promising researchers.
Experienced postdoctoral researchers with an excellent publication track-record are invited to apply for a junoir group leader assignment (typically via an Avenir/Atip project). Suitable candidates are invited to contact Bernard Jégou to learn more about IRSET’s postdoctoral support program.
